Health & Safety since the COVID-19 pandemic

Health and Hygiene

At R. J. Trevarthen Ltd, the health and safety of our customers, staff, and partners remains a top priority. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have maintained enhanced hygiene practices and continue to follow current food safety guidance and best practice across our business.

Below is a summary of frequently asked questions and an overview of the measures we currently have in place.

Food and Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Current scientific evidence indicates that food is not considered a significant route of transmission for respiratory viruses such as COVID-19. Nevertheless, maintaining excellent food hygiene remains essential for overall food safety.

When handling or preparing food, we follow established best practices including:

  • Thorough handwashing
  • Proper cooking of meat products
  • Preventing cross-contamination between raw and cooked foods
  • Maintaining clean preparation environments

Health & Hygiene Standards

At R. J. Trevarthen Ltd, we take health & hygiene very seriously. Our staff have all gone through the required food hygiene training. Additionally, our site cleaning and hygiene standards are extremely high and are monitored both internally and externally on a regular basis. Adhering to the high standards of our industry, our rigorous food hygiene routine includes continual sanitisation of food contact and hand touched surfaces, throughout the whole site.

Ongoing Health & Safety Measures

The lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic have helped strengthen our overall health and hygiene procedures. We continue to maintain enhanced standards designed to minimise the risk of illness within the workplace.

Current measures include:

  • Increased cleaning frequency throughout the site
  • Ready access to hand sanitiser in key areas
  • Clear hygiene signage and staff guidance
  • PPE availability where appropriate
  • Controlled access to operational areas

Staff are encouraged to follow good respiratory hygiene practices and remain mindful of workplace health guidance.

Staff Health & Monitoring

Our employees follow the latest health guidance from the UK Government and NHS regarding illness prevention and workplace safety.

If a staff member feels unwell or develops symptoms of illness, they are required to stay away from the workplace until it is safe for them to return. Return-to-work procedures ensure staff are fit to resume their duties without risk to colleagues or food safety standards. Staffing levels are monitored closely to ensure safe and consistent operations.

Workplace Hygiene Procedures

Personal hygiene is a fundamental part of our food safety system.

Our staff follow strict hygiene procedures including:

  • Regular hand washing
  • Use of sanitising stations located throughout the site
  • Maintaining clean workspaces and equipment
  • Following all food safety and hygiene policies

High-touch areas such as door handles, handrails, taps, telephones, and keyboards are cleaned and sanitised regularly across both production and office areas.

Access To Sites

Visitors, contractors, and other essential personnel may be required to follow site hygiene procedures when entering operational areas. This may include sanitising hands and following relevant safety guidance.
